Next-Generation Technology and Efficiency in the 2020 Toyota Corolla

The all-new Corolla rolls out in 2020 with significant upgrades and more. Toyota’s new approach to engineering and styling, Toyota New Global Architecture, results in a bolder design that includes a lower profile and wider look. Canada can choose from six trims with several variations, including: L, LE, XLE, SE, XSE, and the Hybrid.

Although exterior equipment varies across the Corolla’s model line, you will find an impressive amount of shared standard equipment. This includes: LED daytime running lights, automatic headlamp system, bi-beam LED headlamps, front and rear splash guards, power-adjustable, and colour-keyed heated mirrors, and more. The LE and SE trims are eligible for special upgrade packages that add larger alloy wheels and several other features, while the XLE and XSE offer premium level equipment. 

No matter your power preference, the 2020 Toyota Corolla is efficient

Three engines are available throughout the model line. The L, LE, and XLE receive a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that produces 139 hp. The manual transmission-equipped L trim achieves a fuel consumption rating of 8.0/6.0 L per 100 KM (city/highway). The L and LE, with a continuously variable transmission, have slightly better results. 

The SE and XSE trims include a 2.0L four-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine that extends horsepower to 169. Technologies such as intelligent valve timing and more help add extra power without sacrificing fuel efficiency. The CVT-equipped SE and XSE achieve a rating of or close to 7.6/5.8 L per 100 KM (city/highway).

The Hybrid includes the 1.8L four-cylinder engine in combination with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive platform. This features electric motor power, a storage battery, and a power management system. With a fuel consumption rating of 4.4/4.5 L per 100 KM, the Hybrid is the most efficient of all trims. 

The interior of each Corolla is built for fun with a host of technologies, including an audio system with a 7- or 8-inch display and six speakers. Toyota’s App Suite Connect, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, and more add more entertainment.
