Unveiling the Powerhouse of Adventure: The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Redefines Mid-Size Pickups

Toyota Tacoma has been the stalwart of the mid-size pickup truck market for nearly two decades, setting standards for quality, durability, and reliability. However, the 2024 model promises to be a game-changer, introducing an all-new fourth-generation iteration.

Built on the shared TNGA-F global truck platform with Tundra and Sequoia, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma has been entirely redesigned, specifically engineered, and assembled for North America. With a new high-strength boxed, steel-ladder frame and a wealth of innovative features, the 2024 Tacoma will undoubtedly appeal to off-road enthusiasts. The improved ride and handling are brought about by the fully redesigned multi-link coil rear suspension. Notably, the new Tacoma boasts two powerful turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains, including a top-of-the-line i-FORCE MAX hybrid capable of producing a staggering 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque.

Toyota is making the most of the robust construction and capability synonymous with its brand. The new Tacoma uses high-strength steel for its chassis and aluminum for the upper body, which not only increases rigidity over the previous generation but also reduces weight. Furthermore, the frame crossmembers have been reinforced for greater durability. The novel multi-link rear suspension enhances ride and handling, replacing the leaf springs of the previous model.

Tacoma's off-road capabilities have been given a significant boost in this new iteration. The truck's suspensions are tuned uniquely to each grade, increasing control and adaptability to different road conditions. With a maximum towing capacity rated at 6,500 lbs. and a payload increase to 1,709 lbs., the new Tacoma offers additional support for towing, including a trailer brake controller, trailer backup guide, and a digital display mirror.

Performance has been enhanced with the introduction of the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, the most potent powertrain ever offered on Tacoma. This brings the total system output to 326 horsepower and a substantial 465 lb.-ft. of torque, nearly doubling the torque output of the current-gen truck with the V-6 engine.

Tacoma introduces the all-new Trailhunter grade to the lineup of rugged Toyota Trucks. Designed for the avid overlander, the Trailhunter is a factory-developed overlanding rig that has been built from the ground up in collaboration with Australian-based ARB. With its robust construction and enhanced features, the Trailhunter is ready to tackle any off-the-grid adventure. As always, the Tacoma will also be offered in the ultimate and unstoppable TRD Pro trim.

The new Tacoma also includes the latest technology and information screens, providing significant updates to the cabin. With the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system displayed on a new 8-inch or available 14-inch touchscreen, the Tacoma supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Furthermore, the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system comes standard on all models.

The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma aims to rewrite the rulebook for mid-size pickup trucks, offering improved performance, durability, and technological features. The latest generation stands as testament to Toyota's continuous innovation, solidifying its position as a market leader.
